It's a NEW year!
I love this time of year. The fresh start. Making resolutions. The excitement and anticipation of what 2012 will hold.
Ben and I have been working on our goals & resolutions in categories like Family, Financial, Spirituality, Personal/Hobbies, Health, etc. The specific goals are many and assorted...from starting a composting bin and garden to recording more videos of our children.
One of my more general goals is to be more intentional and present in my relationships. The first year of Liam's life went so quickly and I know his growing-up years are fleeting, so I'm resolving to focus daily on how I am connecting with and teaching him {and soon his younger sibling}.
I just started reading a book I got for Christmas {thanks, Bree!} called "Loving Our Kids on Purpose" and so far it's awesome and is really helping us as we talk about how we'll parent our children. I'm experiencing a paradigm shift on how I see my role of raising children according to how God designed and desires. Instead of seeing my role as one of teaching obedience and compliance I'm learning that my focus should be on love and building a solid relationship instead.
And I think, "Of course! That's exactly how it should be." Jesus taught that the greatest commandment is LOVE {God and others and self} and then the rest will fall into place.
Even my health goals are a tangible way that I can love myself by taking care of this body and baby with which God has blessed me.
So, pretty much that's the theme of my resolutions...love.
Here's to a blessed and prosperous new year to you!
